How to make it
- Measure what the box needs to hold and enter width, height and depth
- Pick tuck box for a two-lid carton, snap-lock for an auto-bottom box whose base locks without glue (the side seam is glued), or tray & lid for an open box with a separate slip-over lid
- Add a window, glue tabs or a thumb notch if your style supports them
- Export as SVG for a cutting machine or a true-to-size PDF to score and fold by hand
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a tuck box and a snap-lock box?
Tuck boxes have tuck-in lids at both ends. Snap-lock boxes have a locking base and top tuck lid with dust flaps, with glue needed only on the side seam.
Can I add a window to see what's inside?
Yes, where the template supports it (tray & lid and several box styles) — turn on the window option and set its size, and the export includes the cut-out plus a backer layer if you want to line it with vellum or acetate.
What paper weight should I use?
230-300gsm card stock folds cleanly and holds its shape for most box sizes; thinner stock works for small favour boxes but larger boxes benefit from the extra stiffness.
